Humanization and Care Project for People with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
At the Isabel Zendal Nurse Hospital, the pilot study of an innovative project led by the Right Care Foundation will be carried out, in collaboration with Bumerania, Humans, and the adELA association. This initiative comprehensively addresses care for people with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), promoting humanization, dignified treatment, and emotional well-being through advanced technological solutions.
Objectives
- Promote humanization in healthcare
- Develop software for companion robotics
- Apply science and technological innovation
Implementation plan
Needs assessment
Definition of indicators through a scientific committee, patient focus groups, and Design Thinking sessions.
Implementation phase
Proof of concept, validation of humanization indicators, and development of the robotic solution in the estimated dimensions.
Continuous evaluation
Throughout the implementation, qualitative and quantitative evaluations will be conducted to measure the project’s impact on patient experience and resource optimization.

Practical functions of social robots
Accompaniment
Facilitates making calls, accessing relevant information, and using telemedicine services, improving communication and remote care.
Cognitive stimulation
Allows the performance of cognitive exercises, assessment tests, and mental stimulation activities tailored to each user.
Exercise and personal care
Encourages treatment adherence, regular exercise practice, and guided and motivating personal care.
