Artificial intelligence, big data and robotics are revolutionising the Valencian primary sector. Experts from the Unió Llauradora i Ramadera, the Spanish Association for the Digitalisation of Agriculture (AgroTech Spain), primary sector companies, technology institutes and research groups recently met at Innotransfer to discuss these technologies and their potential for a more sustainable, profitable and resilient agriculture.
Citrus success stories: Tools such as PreHLB, SensoPlag and CitriAforo, which enable early disease detection, pest control and accurate yield estimation, were presented by Ivan Lütolf, president of AgroTech Spain.
Drones, robots and sensors: Participating companies showed technological solutions such as drones for mapping, weeding robots and environmental monitoring systems, by Christian Rodríguez, CEO and CTO of Ambimetrics; Isidro Fernández, CEO of Bumerania Robotics; Santiago Cases, CEO of Asdron Spain; together with Cándido Esteban, partner of GEA Biotechnology.
Research and collaboration: The importance of collaboration between companies, research centres and universities to promote innovation in the agricultural sector was highlighted. Experts from the Institute of New Imaging Technologies (INIT UJI), the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research (IVIA) and the Technological Institute of Informatics (ITI) analysed the latest research in artificial intelligence, robotics, sensors and data analysis applied to agriculture.
Innotransfer Challenges Platform: Laura Menéndez, Innotransfer Manager at Espaitec, presented the Innotransfer Challenges Platform, which allows companies and organisations from the Valencian Community to pose technological challenges that can be solved by researchers from Valencian public universities and the REDIT network of Technology Institutes.
A promising future: The conference highlighted the great potential of disruptive technologies to transform Valencian agriculture and make it more sustainable and competitive. Collaboration between all actors in the sector will be essential to boost innovation and ensure a sustainable future for agriculture in the Valencian Community.
